Thermo Fisher Scientific Brings Benefits of FEG to New Desktop Scanning Electron Microscope

The Phenom Pharos desktop scanning electron microscope delivers high-performance, high-resolution images to academic and industrial researchers

BALTIMORE, Aug. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Microscopy and Microanalysis 2018 — The Thermo Scientific Phenom Pharos desktop scanning electron microscope (SEM) is the first desktop SEM solution from Thermo Fisher Scientific that includes a field emission gun (FEG). The Phenom Pharos microscope is easy to operate and incorporates an advanced hardware design for fast time-to-image and simple handling. A wide range of academic and industrial researchers now have access to the benefits of FEG in a desktop model, which can increase their throughput.

The new Phenom Pharos microscope will be on display at the Microscopy and Microanalysis 2018 meeting (booth 1112) at the Baltimore Convention Center.

“We are thrilled to bring the benefits of FEG to a desktop SEM with our new Phenom Pharos microscope,” said Trisha Rice, vice president and general manager of materials science, Thermo Fisher. “The Phenom Pharos instrument brings the high-resolution capabilities of a field emission source to a broader base of researchers. With this offering, we now provide our customers with a complete range of SEMs – from desktop instruments to high-end floor models – allowing them to stay on the cutting edge of discovery.”

In addition to providing advanced detectors that can acquire high-quality images with magnifications of up to one million times, the Phenom Pharos microscope offers researchers the following:

  • Access to sharp, high-contrast images with resolutions below three nanometers;
  • An intuitive user interface that enables researchers to get a live image in less than 25 seconds after inserting the sample; and
  • High-resolution imaging that can be obtained simultaneously with analytical analysis.
