Biologists can now use SnapGene software to order plasmids directly through VectorBuilder.Chicago, IL – April 4
GSL Biotech and VectorBuilder have formed a partnership to create a complete cloning solution, allowing customers to order their entire custom plasmids directly from VectorBuilder through GSL Biotech’s “SnapGene” software. SnapGene was created to meet the everyday needs of molecular biologists to plan, visualize, and document their cloning experiments. VectorBuilder was created as a fast and economical outsourcing alternative for plasmid cloning. Through this partnership, SnapGene customers can do the in silico work they are accustomed to doing within the software, and have the physical work fulfilled by VectorBuilder with the push of a button.
“Our vision for SnapGene has always been to accelerate scientific discovery by removing barriers to accurate cloning design and documentation. VectorBuilder complements that vision by offering physical fulfillment of the plasmids our customers design with SnapGene,” said Aline Glick, Vice President of Product Management at GSL Biotech. According to Grace Yu, Vice President of Product Development at VectorBuilder, “We believe that labs can function most efficiently when vector cloning and virus packaging are outsourced, in the same way that we have long been accustomed to outsourcing primers and restriction enzymes. Many of our customers already use SnapGene to design their plasmids, and we are pleased to be able partner with GSL Biotech on a unique solution that provides the finished products as visualized by the software.”
About GSL Biotech
GSL Biotech was founded by scientists and software designers to meet the everyday needs of molecular biologists. GSL’s SnapGene desktop software (snapgene.com) is used in more than fifty countries, in virtually every major research institution, and in most of the largest pharmaceutical and biotech companies worldwide. The software provides a simple yet powerful way for researchers to plan, visualize, document, and share their everyday molecular biology procedures. Free trials of the software are available from the SnapGene website.
In addition to SnapGene, GSL Biotech offers the free SnapGene Viewer, which includes the key visualization tools of SnapGene and allows researchers to make DNA maps and design primers, as well as SnapGene Server, which allows interactive DNA maps to be displayed in a web browser.

About VectorBuilder
VectorBuilder is a revolutionary online platform (vectorbuilder.com) aimed at providing researchers with one-stop solutions for all their vector cloning and virus packaging needs. VectorBuilder’s web-based design tool provides a highly intuitive workflow for users to design complex vectors with just a few mouse clicks, and easily place online orders for the custom cloning of the vectors. Additionally, related services such as virus packaging can be ordered along with the vectors. The cost and turnaround time of these services are just a fraction of DIY.
VectorBuilder’s web platform also offers unified data management that stores all user-generated vectors, orders, and technical inquiries in their accounts. All vectors feature a unique identifier and permanent URL, allowing researchers to retrieve and share any vectors they designed in an easy and secure manner.
Shortly after its launch in 2015, VectorBuilder has quickly become the world’s leading provider of vector cloning and virus packaging services, serving tens of thousands of researchers around the world and winning several awards for its highly innovative platform.
