Informatics Solution Provides Scientists Advanced Tools for Drawing Chemical Structures
WHAT: PerkinElmer, Inc., a global leader committed to innovating for a healthier world, today launched ChemDraw® 18, the latest version of its chemistry application. This software features new productivity capabilities that enable biomolecular researchers and chemists to accelerate their research toward scientific breakthroughs.
Scientists across a variety of disciplines, including academia, government, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, environmental and oil production use the ChemDraw 18 software to help streamline the discovery process by quickly creating and distributing drawings of molecules, reactions, biological entities and pathways.
FEATURES: Key enhancements to the ChemDraw 18 offering include:
- Integration with Elsevier Reaxys: Through a collaboration with Elsevier, a global information analytics business, scientists can draw a molecule or a reaction in the ChemDraw platform and initiate a structure search within Reaxys—a global database of scientific literature, compound properties and chemical reactions.
- ChemACXTM Explorer: With this new add-in, scientists can explore chemical properties or supplier information for a molecule by looking up and retrieving information directly from ChemACX.com—PerkinElmer’s database of more than 10 million commercially available compounds— and quickly paste those structures back into the ChemDraw platform.
- HELM Editor: Using the Pistoia Alliance’s Hierarchical Editing Language for Macromolecules (HELM) notation format for peptides, nucleic acids, antibody-drug conjugates and other biomolecules, scientists can connect to different libraries of monomers, and manage and curate the content of those libraries.
WHY: “With the abundance of data available today, it can be difficult for scientists to navigate a wealth of information and achieve their desired research outcomes. They need access to the right data, in the proper format, together with the appropriate tools for visualization and analysis,” said David Wang, vice president and general manager, Informatics, PerkinElmer. “Our ChemDraw 18 solution enables scientists to better collaborate, speed up analysis time and obtain meaningful insights.”
MORE: Compatible with Mac and PC platforms, the ChemDraw 18 software is the standard drawing tool for reviewing and submitting new chemical compounds to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
