May 13, 2008 (Peabody, Mass.) — JEOL USA has published the fourth edition of its popular collection of applications notes for open air mass spectrometry. The AccuTOF-DART Applications Notebook 4th edition is updated to include several new applications notes covering topics as diverse as real-time analysis of deoxynivalenol in beer to GC/MS using the DART™ ion source. The new book includes 58 pages of real-time analysis of pharmaceuticals, drugs in dose form or in bodily fluids, synthetic organic or organometallics compounds, inks on paper, explosives and arson accelerants, chemical weapons agents, foods, oils, rubber, adhesives, and more. All analysis was performed in ambient conditions directly from surfaces and liquids, including TLC plates, paper, melting point tubes, and unaltered samples such as pieces of rubber, basil leaves, and currency.
The 4th edition of the AccuTOF-DART applications notebook and the individual applications notes can be downloaded from the JEOL USA website. A printed, bound, full color edition can be requested by emailing salesinfo@jeol.com.
New data is continually being added to JEOL USA’s web site, including a new section that features the AccuTOF-DART mass spectra for the American Chemical Society’s (ACS) molecule of the week.
The AccuTOF-DART, now in production for 3 years, has revolutionized mass spectrometry with its ability to perform elemental composition in real time from unaltered samples. Its range of applications is continually growing and the AccuTOF-DART is now in use in many university and industrial settings. A complete bibliography of published papers on the AccuTOF-DART is also listed in the applications notebook.
