CHICAGO – April 24, 2019 – GE Healthcare and the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States (AMSUS) announce that GE Healthcare has become a member of its Executive Advisory Board (EAB). Together, EAB members create a platform for federal-civilian networking to help shape the future of federal healthcare.
AMSUS serves as the voice for federal health professionals alongside advocating for interagency collaboration among the Department of Defense, Veteran’s Affairs, Health and Human Services, and Homeland Security. Bringing together a diverse group of leaders, the AMSUS EAB provides a collaborative approach to solving the government’s most difficult healthcare challenges. Composed of both federal and industry leaders, the EAB serves as a dedicated team to advocate for the next generation of innovation and change across healthcare in the United States.
“AMSUS is thrilled that GE Healthcare is adding its leadership to the EAB,” Dr John M. Cho, AMSUS Executive Director/CEO said. “Its ability to contribute to federal healthcare thought leadership is invaluable and its membership strengthens the EAB as a platform for public-private partnerships and strategic-level communications.”
In 2017, federal government spending accounted for nearly 8% of total healthcare expenditures in the United States.[1] With projected growth to 9.7% by 2028, it is essential for both the federal sector and the healthcare industry to rethink their approach to patient care and delivering outcomes while reducing costs.
With a growing and complex patient population, AMSUS will be a critical ally in the development and deployment of quality care to our active duty military, veterans and all federally funded program beneficiaries.
“As a global medical technology leader, everyone at GE Healthcare looks forward to working alongside AMSUS and its members in caring for these patients who have given so much to our country,” said Michael Butchko, SVP & General Manager, Federal Health Solutions at GE Healthcare. “We’re excited to collaborate with the AMSUS EAB members to improve healthcare delivery and ultimately patient outcomes.”
