New cas9 protein and synthetic gRNA strengthen Thermo Fisher Scientific’s portfolio of genome editing products
CARLSBAD, Calif., Nov. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — As researchers continue their quest to create more relevant cellular models, they now have access to a comprehensive portfolio of solutions from Thermo Fisher Scientific designed to maximize the performance of their genome editing experiments.
Solutions in the newly expanded Invitrogen TrueEdit tool kit are optimized to support every step in the genome editing workflow. The product suite meets the full spectrum of researchers’ genome editing needs – from basic solutions for CRISPR beginners to sophisticated tools for highly efficient and precise genome editing in even the most challenging cell types.
“Invitrogen products set a new standard in genome editing, pushing the boundaries of performance, precision and ease-of-use,” said Helge Bastian, vice president and general manager of synthetic biology at Thermo Fisher Scientific. “We are dedicated to serving our customers by advancing their education and innovation efforts, bringing them validated protocols for a large number of cell types and enabling them to achieve their research goals faster than ever before. With our expanded Invitrogen suite, we are in the position to serve as customers’ exclusive, one-stop source for the highest quality genome editing products on the market.”
New Tools to Support the Genome Editing Workflow
To enhance the Invitrogen genome editing product portfolio, Thermo Fisher introduces the Invitrogen TrueCut Cas9 Protein v2, a recombinant Streptococcus pyogenes Cas9 protein for genome editing with CRISPR technology. The next generation CRISPR-Cas9 protein is designed to deliver consistently high editing efficiency in all tested cell lines including standard, immune, primary and stem, with up to two times higher editing efficiency in difficult targets than the competition.
In addition, the new versatile product line of ready-to-transfect Invitrogen TrueGuide Synthetic gRNAs offers researchers a range of selections, from effective economical options for routine editing tasks to high-performance choices for editing in challenging cell types such as primary cells, immune cells, and stem cells. Also offered are predesigned synthetic gRNAs for the entire human and mouse genome, selected for maximum knockout efficiency without compromising specificity, as well as a fast, easy-to-use interface for ordering custom gRNA sequences.
Superior Customer Support and Education
Beyond offering a robust line of genome editing products, Thermo Fisher is also a destination for instruction, hands-on training and customer support to help researchers learn, understand and find solutions for their genome editing work. Thermo Fisher offers customers access to local technical specialists, a comprehensive technical support center and dedicated genome editing R&D team to answer all of their genome editing questions.
Thermo Fisher also offers a genome editing workshop to educate researchers on two key genome editing technologies, CRISPR and TALEN. Participants can attend comprehensive lectures from experienced scientists and take part in laboratory training sessions using the highly efficient CRISPR-Cas9 system and TALEN technology. To meet strong demand from the scientific community, Thermo Fisher has more than doubled the number of workshops offered and continues to hold courses at state-of-the-art Thermo Fisher training facilities around the world.
