Thermo Fisher Scientific, the world leader in serving science, will recognize the winners of the 2016 Thermo Scientific Tandem Mass Tag (TMT) Research Award at a breakfast workshop held on June 6, 2017 during the 65th American Society of Mass Spectrometry (ASMS) Conference in Indianapolis. Now in its third year, the research competition selects scientists from a pool of international applicants based on innovation and the potential impact of their work in proteomics using these tandem mass tags (TMT). The proprietary TMT reagents are exclusively licensed to Thermo Fisher Scientific by Proteome Sciences, PLC.
Gold, silver and bronze winners receive awards of TMT and other mass spectrometry-related reagents, valued at $10,000, $7,500 or $5,000, respectively. Winners will use these reagents to quantify, normalize and streamline global protein expression studies using mass spectrometry.
A panel of judges from Thermo Fisher and Proteome Sciences, PLC – which licensed the TMT reagents used for awards – selected the four recipients from among a group of competitive submissions based on the scientific merit of their proposals. This year, there was a tie for the bronze award.
