Shanghai, China, November 6, 2018 – Today, Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany a leading science and technology company, is making its debut at the first China International Import Expo (CIIE). The company is showcasing a wide spectrum of innovative products and technologies from its Healthcare, Life Science and Performance Materials business sectors at its 300 m2 booth. Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany is also hosting innovation workshops at CIIE to demonstrate its extensive experience across multiple industries and disciplines.
Kai Beckmann, Executive Board member of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany and CEO Performance Materials, is participating in the CIIE on the first day, including the grand opening ceremony, Hongqiao Forum and other activities. Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany aims to leverage this unique platform to demonstrate its commitment to and confidence in the Chinese market as well as its continuous investments in China in recent years.

Holding the CIIE is a significant move for the Chinese government, giving firm support to trade liberalization and economic globalization. It also aims to actively open the Chinese market to the world, enabling countries and regions all over the world to strengthen economic cooperation and trade, and to promote global trade and world economic growth. The grand expo is attracting more than 2,000 government officials, international organization leaders, entrepreneurs, and scholars from over 130 countries and regions who will attend the opening ceremony and Hongqiao Forum. More than 3,000 companies from 130 countries and regions are exhibiting at the CIIE.
