Bangalore, India – The SPECTROLAB high-precision metal analyzer from SPECTRO Analytical Instruments GmbH, a global leader in the field of optical emission and X-ray fluorescence spectrometry, is among the state-of-the-art instruments selected by AMETEK, Inc., to showcase at its newly opened Technology Solutions Centre in Whitefield, Bangalore, India.
The SPECTROLAB stationary analyzer is the most flexible and accurate optical emission spectrometer using spark excitation available. The high-end instrument is equipped with a hybrid optic that directly processes light from a spark stand with up to 108 photomultiplier tubes (PMT) and 22 CCD detectors.
Parallel utilization of the two detector technologies achieves detection limits with a previously impossible flexibility. The result is extremely low detection limits and flexible range of use, that makes the instrument especially suited for metal analysis applications. The SPECTROLAB, as example, achieves detection limits below 1 mg/kg for such typical applications as the determination of trace elements (e.g. Ag, B, Ca, Cu and Mg) in iron alloys.
The Technology Solutions Centre, which opened on October 10, was established by AMETEK Instruments (India) Pvt. at its headquarters in Whitefield, Bangalore, to support the needs of AMETEK, Inc’s growing customer base in India. Along with the state-of-the-art SPECTROLAB spectrometer, the Centre is equipped with products from nearly 15 AMETEK businesses worldwide.
The Centre is designed to showcase the latest AMETEK aerospace, elemental analysis, factory automation, imaging, power management, process analysis, test and measurement, and precision manufacturing instruments, along with AMETEK’s extensive portfolio of advanced motion solutions and specialty metal products.
Additionally, the Centre was developed to provide a wider range of services and support to AMETEK customers across India and South Asia, including product demonstrations, training seminars and application workshops, along with factory-direct service, repair and supporters.
“SPECTRO has had a presence in India in 1979. Now, with the opportunities the Centre provides, we can demonstrate our products to customers prior to purchase and support them with improved training and service support afterwards,” comments Amol Deshpande, Business Director (South Asia) for SPECTRO.
