–Joining forces for single-cell research excellence–
PLEASANTON, CA.—February 21, 2018—10x Genomics, Inc., a company focused on accelerating genomic discovery, today announced that it has joined the Corporate Partnership Program of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), one of the world’s leading research institutions.
“As a leader in single cell genomics, 10x Genomics is investing in institutional training initiatives that support investigators in successful adoption of single-cell analytical tools,” said Serge Saxonov, Ph.D., co-founder and chief executive officer of 10x Genomics. “We see partnering with leading research institutes like EMBL as critical for developing this much-needed support, so that together we can drive future innovations in research and discovery.”
Through the new partnership 10x Genomics will provide advanced training in single-cell genomics and transcriptomics. The company’s Chromium System and Solutions are prominently used by researchers for single cell analysis of gene expression and immune repertoire profiling, and was listed as one of the Top 10 innovations of 2017 by The Scientist.
The company also recently announced future product expansion of their single cell analysis applications, including copy-number variation (CNV), ATAC-seq, and feature barcode technology. Specifically, their new feature barcode technology will offer a way for researchers to use the Chromium System for single cell multi-assay development, including co-measurement of protein abundance and gene expression, or how to measure the impact of CRISPR perturbations upon gene expression of single cells.
Training will be hosted at the EMBL Advanced Training Centre in Heidelberg, Germany, and will serve a broad global community of investigators interested in single cell genomics.
Founded in 2009, EMBL’s Corporate Partnership Program facilitates mutually beneficial relationships between world-class corporate partners and EMBL scientists. In 2019, through support of 10x Genomicsand other current members of the program, more than 200 talented young scientists will receive financial assistance to be able to contribute to and participate in advanced scientific training at EMBL.

About EMBL
EMBL is Europe’s flagship laboratory for the life sciences. We are an intergovernmental organization established in 1974 and are supported by over 20 member states.
EMBL performs fundamental research in molecular biology, studying the story of life. We offer services to the scientific community; train the next generation of scientists and strive to integrate the life sciences across Europe.
We are international, innovative and interdisciplinary. We are more than 1600 people, from over 80 countries, operating across six sites in Barcelona (Spain), Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Heidelberg (Germany), Hinxton (UK) and Monterotondo (Italy). Our scientists work in independent groups and conduct research and offer services in all areas of molecular biology.
Our research drives the development of new technology and methods in the life sciences. We work to transfer this knowledge for the benefit of society.
